The 7 things tag
In general, I shy away from posting ‘about me’ stuff on this blog, unless it’s relevant to a post. But, Uma a.k.a Pattu’s mom, one of my dearest friends in the “real world” tagged me with this ’say 7 things that people don’t know about you’ tag. Almost decided against it, and then thought, why not do it for a change! This blog has had plenty of serious posts for a while now, so some lightness here.
These things may of course be known to a few people, but not to the blog world at large. So, here goes:
1. I love to sing, especially in the morning. If I’ve slept well, I get out of bed and feel like singing - normally, a song that automatically pops into my head (and then refuses to go away for that day). This week, it’s been Thare Rahiyo from Pakeezah and Aankhon mein teri from Om Shanti Om. (And, while I can read, write and speak comfortably in English, I can never, ever sing in English).
2. I am borderline obsessive about folding clothes well (when I do get around to folding them). I can’t bear it if the corners don’t match perfectly.
3. No mixing on the plate - for certain foods. So sambar + rice is alright, but the vegetables must sit at a safe distance.
4. I would secretly love to have an Imelda Marcos like shoe closet - well, not really, but say, at least 20 pairs. The more rational, socialist-era 80s child in me disapproves of such thoughts as extravagant and wasteful and restricts it to about 6-8 pairs at any one time.
5. I don’t hoard - in general. I have very little qualms about disposing of stuff that is of no use to me - usually by donating them while they are still in good condition. This includes clothes, shoes, kitchen stuff, books, appliances - just about anything.
6. I can be contrary - when people tell me I can’t or shouldn’t do something, I am sometimes tempted to do it, just to spite them. This was even stronger when I was younger; I like to think I am getting wiser
7. I love attending music concerts, and am quite comfortable going alone if I can find no one to accompany me - especially Western classical music, which an uncle introduced me to when I was very young. One day, I would like attend a concert at the Vienna Musikverein.
Who do I tag? Let’s see. I’d like to tag Sri, Sraboney, R’s mom and the IHM, if they haven’t done the tag already.
You enjoy music concerts and you also like to sing, shows you really love music
I think it’s good if a challenge can make you do something well. It can be such a motivator!!
Now I guess I too could do with a non serious post … let me try and do it asap
ohh I love to mix it up and eat
I am like you wrt 2 & 6
Thanks all for your comments. Do leave a note here if you take up this tag…
I can so identify with #4. I feel exactly the same way. I’d love to have lots of stuff (not just shoes, but also clothes and accessories), but I can’t bring myself to acquire too much because it seems so frivolous.
I like 6 too.
Hey Apu
Thanks for the tag..loved ur post..i only wish i had ur habit if not hoarding stuff!;)
Hey Aps..will do the tag…pakka… and I can so relate to number 5…just cant hoard…:)
@ Unmana - yes, though I allow myself the occasional splurge..
@ Sri - you’re welcome! my husband specializes in the hoarding department
R’s mom - sure…feel free to drop a link here when you do.
Hey, haven’t quite noticed the No 2 and No 4..
And on 6 - I think it also depends on ‘who’ is telling you and ‘how’
@ Uma - I guess the 2 is not visible (plus I don’t think I had it as much earlier) - the 4, I try to conceal
