A universal language

August 31st, 2009

From the mouths of babes.

Overheard yesterday, an 8-year old boy and a 6-year girl old playing on the street.

8-year old: I know a universal language. Do you know what that means?

6-year old: Yes, I know. Do you?

8-year old: Yes, it’s a language that everyone in the world can understand.

6-year old: No, stupid, universal language means when I speak in that language, everyone can understand me!

I enjoyed that Thank you! Although I’m left wondering what that universal language is.

Whilst English is indeed widely spoken, as I know from my travels, it is far from universal. We do need an international second language. My vote goes to Esperanto. Take a look at http://www.esperanto.net

    What do you think?

ha ha, very sweet and yet logical. What these kids talks about now days makes me go back yester-years. How the generation evolves. We used to talk….’le’ts play mom-dad’, ‘i got the biggest toy in the world’, or something which did not realte to current affairs, but o my! o my! kids now a days! :) here is another example.

This weekend, while playing with n’bor’s kid (they are indian too), my son and he had a race…FOR A CHANGE, this time my son wins…and he declares, “now that I have won, I am the President and you are the Vice President, you have to follow as I say. And yes, you do not have to call me Barack Obama, you can just call me Obama”

…..my vote goes for either langguage of love or sign-langguage… not english for sure… :)
